Why canal is generally in trapezoidal shape?

 This vey simple because Coefficient of Discharge (Cd) is maximum for trapezoidal shape, so that we always make canals in we shape.

where,    Q = Discharge m3/sec

         Q =Area * Velocity  m3/sec
